Asian Pacific Community Fund
Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) was founded in 1990 by Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community leaders in response to the need for alternative funding for API-serving Los Angeles-based nonprofits.
APCF’s mission is to cultivate philanthropists to invest in organizations that empower APIs to prosper. APCF does this by building healthier communities, developing leaders, creating a stronger voice, and providing the foundation for a brighter tomorrow.
Prior to 1990, less than 0.3% of all local foundation funds went to API agencies. Thus, APCF initiated employee giving campaigns at various workplaces, including private companies, public agencies (federal, state, county and city) and nonprofit organizations. Southern California Edison was one of the first and longest private company employer partners. Later, APCF started cultivating API philanthropy through donor-advised funds, giving circles, grant making, and scholarship. As of 2023, APCF has distributed over $11 million in grantmaking to API serving nonprofits.
APCF has bolstered infrastructure building and sustainability within API serving nonprofits in Southern California through their capacity building program. APCF’s network has grown from 12 to 77 nonprofits and they provide programs and services in 35 API languages, plus English and Spanish, to over 910,000 people, of whom over 84% are low-income.
